In a rural location like Upton Bishop it is likely that an ambulance will take more than ten minutes to arrive, so the availability of a community defibrillator within minutes really could save a life.
We have funded the purchase of a community defibrillator for the people of Upton Bishop, and local residents have received training which was kindly supported by West Midlands Ambulance Service.
We have decided to dedicate the unit to Alison Griffiths; as Alison did so much for the community it just seemed fitting.
We were amazed and quite touched when Alison's family offered to contribute £500 towards the cost of the unit, and in addition to this another Upton Bishop resident has agreed to fund the ongoing cost of consumables.
It is fantastic how this initiative has brought our community together.
Thank you everyone!
